The Global Homecoming: MixtNutz Reunite for an Exclusive 70s Spectacle at Ayclive 2026

After more than a decade away from the spotlight, the internationally acclaimed, homegrown sensation MixtNutz is coming out of retirement for a massive, one-off reunion at Ayclive 2026.

For fans of classic 70s rock, pop, disco, and soul, the Saturday lineup at Ayclive just got a whole lot more meaningful. MixtNutz, a band with deep roots in Newton Aycliffe, is set to prove that great music knows no borders, bringing their electrifying stage presence back to the town where it all began.

A LEGENDARY International Reunion

What makes this performance so special isn’t just the music, it’s the distance the band is traveling to make it happen. Proving their commitment to the Ayclive stage, original members are flying in from across the globe to reunite.
The 2026 lineup features original Newtonians “Canadian Paul” Watson (Guitar & Vocals) flying in from Portugal and Anth Bryan (Guitar & Vocals) traveling all the way from Australia. They join fellow original members Micky Rich (Vocals), Mally Pybus (Guitar), and Gaz Avery (Bass & Vocals).

To complete this powerhouse sound, the band is joined by elite guest musicians Steve Brown (The Skapones) on Saxophone and the highly sought-after Andy Lazenby on Drums.

Reliving the Golden Era

Formed in 1997, MixtNutz quickly became a “must-see” act, dominating the UK live circuit and performing across Europe before disbanding in 2005. They built a reputation for high-energy shows that bridged the gap between generations, celebrating the genres that defined the 1970s.

Their setlists are more than just a trip down memory lane; they are immersive experiences. From stadium rock anthems to floor-filling disco hits, MixtNutz delivers faithful renditions and creative reinterpretations that capture the raw energy of the golden era of music.

A Special Appearance at Ayclive

As a Community Interest Company, Ayclive is all about celebrating local heritage and world-class talent. The MixtNutz story embodies that spirit perfectly, local lads who took their music to the world and are now returning to support their hometown’s biggest celebration.

Fans can expect a setlist packed with 1970s nostalgia, delivered with the infectious enthusiasm of a band that has been waiting over ten years to plug back in and play for a Newton Aycliffe crowd.
